FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Purchase an ordinary, long bristled car washing brush at your auto supply store. This brush has soft bristles & the handle fastens onto the end of your hose. It lets you wash the fence just like you wash your car.
  2. If the dirt is hard to remove, such as soot & grime, wipe down the fence with a solution made up of the following: 1/3 cups powdered detergent, (Ex., Tide, All or equivalent) 2/3 cup household cleaner. (Ex., Spic & Span, Soilax, etc.) & 1 gallon of water. This combination should allow for easy removal.
  3. If mildew is a problem in your area, use the solution above, but substitute 1 quart of liquid laundry bleach for 1 quart of water.
  4. If you want to wash down your fence, start at the bottom and work up to the top to prevent streaking.

Vinyl performs well through the scorching summers of Arizona as well as the freezing winter of Minnesota. An additive called impact modifiers are what keep the vinyl we use flexible and resilient through the years. Vinyl fence has 5 times the tensile strength of wood and 4 times the flexibility, allowing it to withstand winds in excess of 50 mph.

Just like when we spend time in the sun, vinyl needs sunscreen. For superior protection, the industry-leading standard of 10 parts per 100 of titanium dioxide (TIO2) is used on all vinyl fencing we install. Like SPF 50 sunscreen, this costly UV inhibitor protects your fence or railing from the damaging rays of the sun and allowing the vinyl to keep its original color.

The vinyl we use is pressed through dyes using a state of the art process called co-extrusion. Through extreme heat and pressure, the two layers are molecularly bonded and cannot be physically separated. This process allows for superior control over the distribution of vital ingredients.

From protecting your children to preserving old-growth forests, vinyl fencing and decking is an environmentally-wise choice. Trost Plastics installs lifetime home improvement products to replace traditional “disposable” materials. Unlike wood that exposes your family to hazardous chemical treatments, our products are created in controlled factory environments using stringent safety standards. All of the vinyl material we use is nontoxic and 100% recyclable.

All of our aluminum products are American made. Our fencing is manufactured by Radiance Fence in Michigan. The aluminum railings, posts and other accessories come from Westbury which is manufactured in Indiana.

Our American made aluminum fencing and railings are incapable of rusting. This particular metal can however oxidize if exposed to the elements unprotected. A process known as powder coating, which gives the fencing and railing its colors and textures, protects the fence from the oxidization process.

All of our aluminum products are covered under a lifetime warranty. The warranty includes any craftsmanship defects and chipping, peeling or cracking of the powder coat on your aluminum product.

Just like vinyl, the aluminum fence and rail systems are very low maintenance. You will never need to paint, stain or refinish the aluminum products. Simply hosing them off or using a soap and water mixture every once in awhile is more than sufficient to maintain the beauty of our aluminum products.
